  5. CC says:

That voice really needs to get changed lol… its horrible. Other than that, looking good!

  6. Demis Balbach says:

    Great app – great team.

  7. Steven Campbell says:

    3 days… I feel like a kid right before Christmas…

  8. David Wallace says:

I can’t wait. This has been missing from iphone for too damn long. I’m curious if they use a TTS standard so we can replace the voice with others? I want mine to sound like a british lady librarian :)

Love the new interface!! Hopegully we will be able to change the voice! Can the voice be turned of?

  12. Randy says:

If its done wouldn’t you release it before the weekend?

  13. shadow says:

are we able to change the turn left/right notification timing? like i hear 20m or 100m, but thats way too close. can we like get a notification at 500m/200m/50m/now?

  14. coleman says:

you guys are great well done for such a great product! keep it up lads your on to a winner! :)
how many years till we get a 3d tomm tomm like a view…… ewwwww that wud b good!

  15. Steven Campbell says:

the iPhone gps is only good to /- 18m so I can’t see why it would notify as close as 20m when you could be 2m away with that 18m margin of error…

that is impractical and hopefully that Stephen hawking voice doesn’t tell you too often how close you are.

  16. severe says:

1.) I assume it still works in landscape. (?)

2.) And does the search function work in landscape as well?

3.) How did you ever get Ned from South Park to do your voice-over work?

  17. Fred says:

The 2nd of March 2 0 0 9 … or has the next xGPS also a time machine feature :D

Nice video. The new MapManager seems to be really nice…

There are only two things I’m still dreaming about:
    - calculating offline routes on the Touch
    - a kind of compressing the maps data and or a function that collects only the map pieces along the route. I think on long distances about 1000km. On the normal way with the MapManger is the filesize exploding because of useless and unnecessary pieces along the route.

    Great job xGps Team…

  18. Thanos says:

    Great news!
    The voice indeed needs improovement.

Oh! and an irelevant question: Could anybody give a hint about the music played on the clip?

Awesome!! Looking forward to use this app!! I can help translating the app into Spanish if you desire, you can contact me at mtn.77@hotmail.com, I would love to help you guys finish the translations earlier!

  21. Henry says:

    @Steven
the iPhone gps is only good to /- 18m so I can’t see why it would notify as close as 20m when you could be 2m away with that 18m margin of error…
i wouldent be too shore about the 18m i’ve been doing a lot of testing with my iphone, i’m pretty shure if reception is good it will locate me in under 5 meters, sometimes even 2m.

    Great app anyway, can’t wait… !!!

  22. Steven Campbell says:

    @henry

hrm…. sometimes my iPhone gps “floats” me away from my route entirely hwever as this used to be a big issue with iPhone version 2.1

perhaps it is a software issue as xroad has more drifting gps than the native iphone maps.

    its a. interesting theory

  23. Johnny says:

    Great news. Can’t wait.
The demo looks to me like you now don’t have to enter in a full address as with 1.1. George Street only, instead of George Street, Sydney. Is this the case?

  24. coleman says:

the voice feature is great… I wud rather have some sexy voice saying “take the second turn on the right big boy” than Steven hawking say” turn left on hammersmith road”. wud it not b better to have a fixed script than a computer generated voice? anyway only a suggestion. thanks guys without your hard work we wud never of got here :)

  25. Dave K says:

I have being checking the xgps roadmap every hour and knowing only 2 tickets (landscape bug and additional languages) left. Just can’t wait!

@Coleman agreed with you 100%. I would prefer a humanised voice giving general direction like ‘turn left at next intersection’.

  26. Thien Nguyen says:

Sweet!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait! This was the only reason I bought a 3g iPhone for! G-map is good but it lags and doesn’t have voice directions. Can’t wait for xgps 1.2! I commend you all for your hard work :)

  27. kazoo says:

I didn’t know Steven Hawking was part of the development team. Thanks for lending your voice Steven.:-)

  28. Hefung says:

Great job. This is what most of the iPhone users are looking for since its release. Thanks for everything:-) Greeting from iPhone user Malaysia.

  29. 3d Designer says:

just in time for my birthday! Aw you shouldn’t have :) Great work guys… And I can’t speak for all the other “carrot danglers” saying “I’ve got $20 waiting for you” but I am DEFINATELY going to donate at least $100 (USD). I wish I could donate more… This is truly what I have been waiting for for almost a year now… And you deserve to be compensated for your countless hours of work. We need to better support developers like you.

  30. joe bar says:

Great job. I love it, but can i use the new version with FW2.1?

  31. Carlos Guerreiro says:

    Hi
    Well done.
Would be glad to help, if you need help for Portuguese(
    (Portugal) translation.

  32. go-around says:

Can you download maps from a zoomlevel to a zoomlevel or just one once?

  33. bon says:

Is there any effort to use smaller map format? The google map that XGPS downloads is very large compared to what other GPS navigation usages. If i try to download a single state a highest zoom level (whihc what i want i order to navigate) the size is like 2-3 GB. Most of the other GPS program can store all USA in 1-2 GB. Am i doing any thing wrong? Is there a way to get smaller map files.

  34. hdd123 says:

Well what can I say, outstanding!

Brilliant! You guys have come so far in such a short time.

    Many thanks.

    hdd123

  35. Bill says:

Looking Good [YouTube vid]! Keep up the great work!

  36. difking says:

    Brilliant work! Interface looks great.
But why was night mode not shown? looks like a great feature.

    Anyway many thanks!!!!!

  39. Cristian says:

Thank you for the great work … I’m expecting this release like a child before christmas …

    ipod touch + xgps + orange igps360

  40. champ22 says:

great job guys and i really mean that but i have just a few questions for you?

will the over all map database be updated?
the reason i ask is because when i reacently searched for a blockbuster video store standing right out side of a blockbuster video store xgps couldnt find the one i was at (or any in the same state for that matter)

and when i do find what im looking for will i be able to rout myself from my current gps spot to the newly found pin?

  41. Brian says:

    Mathieu-
Will this release in the States today, 3/1 or not until Monday here??

  42. John says:

I’d rather some sexy British chicks voice but this will be a good start

  43. mayto says:

Thank you for your great work you are the best

  44. SDG says:

No matter what I do this program says unable to create route. WTF ? Is this because I’m in Canada?

  45. Brian says:

    SDG-
It is because you are using a version that does not do that yet, yes the option is there but it will not work until the version that comes out later today!! Search the forum my friend, there is a lot of info there.

  46. Mathieu says:

A precision: release date : 2nd of March, European time!

  47. andyy says:

    so, at midnight or ?
